Kaiāwhina Matua – Executive Assistant PART TIME

The Kaiāwhina Matua is the core support person to our Manahautu (Chief Executive), Board of Trustees and Executive Leadership Team. You will hold the key functions of providing strategic and operational support services and must be adept at keeping the wider organisational strategy values, priorities and timeliness in mind.

This is a position for someone with extensive experience in a legal or business field and knowledge of operating successfully and impartially within a Māori organisation

The Organisation

In 2013, the Ngāti Whātua o Kaipara Claims Settlement Act was passed.  Representing, Ngāti Whātua o Kaipara, whānau and hapu of the five (5) marae in South Kaipara,  Ngā Maunga Whakahii o Kaipara Development Trust (NMWOK) is the post settlement government entity (PSGE) under which this settlement assets are managed.  Through its subsidiary entities NMWOK delivers both commercial and social/cultural outcomes for its members whilst at the same time protecting and growing its assets for future generations. 

The Position

We are now inviting applications for a part-time Kaiāwhina Matua.  To be shortlisted you must be able to deliver the following:

Desired Technical Experience

  • Capacity to interpret technical material, legislation and policy and prepare/provide summary information effectively
  • Ability to provide direct feedback and maintain effective professional relationships with senior people in internal and external organisations
  • Independently provide a full range of administrative and general support to the Chief Executive including, but not limited to, diary management, records management, agendas, letters and presentation materials, attendance at meetings as requested, minute taking and follow up of Board and Executive management actions.
  • Coordinating and arranging all aspects of Board and Executive Management hui and collating, preparing and distributing relevant documentation (invitations, agendas, board trak) to parties in advance of hui.
  • Provide secretarial, in meeting and post meeting support services to ensure that actions are completed within the designated timeframe
  • Undertaking assigned projects in collaboration with appropriate parties as directed by the Manahautu

Personal Attributes

  • Evidence of 5+ years’ experience in a senior administration position
  • Evidence of quality decision making skills
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies and procedures impacting on Maori Post Settlement Governance Entities.
  • Action Orientated – high energy with a sense of urgency
  • Knowledge of Te Reo is preferred
  • Collaborative

This is an office-based position and will require travelling to different locations in the South Kaipara rohe.
